Komatsu celebrated 25 years in Newberry by putting a piece of its history back to work for our community!

During the 25th anniversary celebration of its Newberry Manufacturing Operation on Friday, October 2, Komatsu presented Newberry County with a fully refurbished 2007 loader/backhoe for use by Public Works.

The project started with two county-owned loader/backhoes that were no longer operational, both among the early products assembled at the Newberry facility. Using parts from both machines, the Komatsu team invested 115 hours of work and $20,000 to restore one fully functioning unit and return it to service with the county. The refurbished equipment was also on display at the October 7 County Council meeting.

County Administrator Ted Luckadoo expressed his appreciation by saying, “thank you, Komatsu, for the time, care and investment that gave this equipment a second life serving Newberry County. Congratulations on 25 years of manufacturing in our community!”
