The Newberry County Clerk to Court Office will be closed from 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026. The office will reopen promptly at 3:00 p.m.
At the most recent Newberry County Council meeting, Friendly Fire Department (Station 1) and the Newberry County Rescue Squad (Station 14) were recognized as part of a longstanding tradition to highlight our volunteer departments and the vital service they provide to our community.
Emergency Services Coordinator Brandon Wicker recognized the Newberry County Rescue Squad, noting the department is staffed with 27 members, including five Fire Academy Certified Instructors and four American Heart Association AED Instructors. Station 14 covers approximately 298 square miles, including 30 miles of Interstate 26. In addition to responding to 911 calls, Station 14 provides coverage for all high school athletic events within their district, all Newberry College football games, and serves as the primary medical provider for the Spartan Race since they began in Newberry.
Chief Joe Palmer recognized Friendly Fire Department, which has proudly served the community since 1963 and currently has 24 volunteer members. In 2025, the department responded to 298 calls for service.
Newberry County Council extends a heartfelt thank you to these dedicated volunteers for their unwavering commitment and service to the people of Newberry County.
The Newberry County Mulch Facility is once again fully operational.
Yard debris can be disposed of at the mulch grinding facility at 270 Public Works Drive, Newberry, Monday-Friday, 7:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
