Newberry County Council recently received a letter from the 117th Engineer Brigade, which is stationed here in Newberry County. The Brigade is currently deployed overseas and sent a United States flag that was flown over their headquarters during their deployment.
In recognition of the Brigade and their service to our country, this flag will be flown outside the Newberry County Annex Building today, March 11.
Newberry County is proud to recognize and support the men and women of the 117th Engineer Brigade.
Newberry County Council officially proclaimed March 2026 as Disabilities Awareness Month in Newberry County during their Newberry County Council meeting on March 4.
This proclamation recognizes the many residents and families in our community who are impacted by lifelong disabilities and celebrates the contributions of individuals with disabilities who live, work, learn, and serve throughout our county. It also honors the dedication of family members, caregivers, and service providers who support individuals with disabilities every day.
Although representatives from Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs were unable to attend the meeting on Wednesday, a copy of the proclamation was presented on Thursday by County Administrator Ted Luckadoo.
March serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the many contributions individuals with disabilities make to the Newberry County community.
