As well as enforcing criminal laws, another important functions of the Sheriff's Office is to enforce civil laws. This division is tasked with processing and serving court orders such as claim and deliveries, subpoenas, child support, and evictions. The main function of the civil process office is to serve a defendant with court documents that has been instituted against them, which in return, offers them the opportunity to defend themselves in the court of law.

The Execution of Judgments is a part of the Civil Process unit that carries out the final orders of the Court. This unit is responsible for the levies and sales of real estate and personal property to bring satisfaction and/or settlement to Judgments and to follow up on cases that were previously unable to be satisfied.

The Civil Process Unit consists of two (2) sworn officers that are versed in the civil aspects of the law and spend a majority of their time in the pursuit of this side of the law. They work together to process and serve thousands of papers each year. These officers also provide assistance to the Law Enforcement Division by responding to regular road patrol calls as needed or as emergency circumstances may dictate.

Citizens and businesses who file documents with the court can bring the papers to the Sheriff's Office or mail the papers and service fee to our post office box to have the other party officially served.
